Sometimes the decisions we make when we are young are meaningless and will have no effect on our life as adults. Sometimes they mean everything. They is a groundbreaking look at one teenager at a very significant fork in the road.

Fourteen-year-old J (Rhys Fehrenbacher) lives in the suburbs of Chicago with their parents. They have been taking hormone blockers to postpone puberty but after two years of medication and therapy they must decide whether or not to move forward with their transition. Over this crucial weekend J’s sister Lauren (Nicole Coffineau) and her partner Araz (Koohyar Hosseini) arrive to look after them and in the process both help and hinder J as they prepare for a life changing decision.

Executive-produced by Jane Campion, Anahita Ghazvinizadeh’s feature debut is a beautiful and intimate look at one young person’s path to authentic living.
