Get involved with Inside Out

Join the 21st annual Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival as we move into our new home at the state-of-the-art TIFF Bell Lightbox. Inside Out is Canada's largest queer film and video festival, drawing crowds of more fabulousness than you can imagine, over 11 breathtaking days, to parties, directors' talks, panel discussions and screenings of more than 250 amazing films and videos from Canada and around the world. But none of this would be possible without the devoted work of our many fantastic volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, get involved in the community, see movies and feel good! There are many ways to volunteer your time and your skills to Inside Out:

Volunteer for the 2011 Festival:

In theatres: Be in the action! Help our Front-of-House team manage the crowds in and out of the theatres, including: ticket-taking, ushering, ballot distribution and line management.

Membership & Guest Relations: These important, people-person volunteers handle inquiries from Festival Guests (filmmakers, distributors, producers), and help grow the membership of Inside Out.

Parties/Special Events: Social butterfly? Mingle with out-of-towners, filmmakers, audience and Inside Out members as you manage the guest list, or help with set-up, serving and security. Let us know if you are Smart-Serve certified.

Driving: If you have a valid driver's license and access to a car you can help pick-up and drop-off guests of the Festival to and from the airport.

Billeting: Do you have a spare bed/room/house to offer a visiting filmmaker? Help us make our guests feel welcome by providing a homestay.

Festival volunteers receive a one-of-a-kind t-shirt, vouchers to attend screenings, an exclusive volunteer appreciation party and the intangible rewards of meeting new people, contributing to the community, and feeling great!

Anyone interested in volunteering for the 21st annual Festival should attend one of our Volunteer Orientation and Sign-up Sessions. Even returning volunteers will need to hear information about our new venue. Sign up sessions will take place in early May. Check back for exact dates and locations.

Year Round Volunteering

Inside Out also needs year-round help. To volunteer for any of the following please fill out our online application form:

Office Administration: Provide administrative support to our hard-working team. Tasks include data entry, filing, organizing, writing and various office administration tasks.

Programming: Assist the programming team with inputting and organizing submissions and dubbing tapes.

Special Events: Help out at year-round screenings and special events; ushering, ticket taking, set-up, marketing, guest list management and general assistance.
