WELCOME
Inside Out is pleased to be back in the Nation's Capital for a second year with more queer cinema hailing from every continent on the planet. A cultural capital with a vibrant queer scene deserves a distinguished film event and we hope our many improvements over last year's pilot initiative will result in four days of non-stop cinematic excellence.
Firstly, we want to welcome back FIDO and thank them for their continued support of the Festival. FIDO was the first corporation to get on board last year and have increased that commitment for 2008 by becoming the Presenting Sponsor of the Ottawa-Gatineau Festival.
Also, the Festival is moving to a new venue for our screenings this year and we hope you will join us in celebrating our new home at the National Gallery of Canada!
We've made a particular effort to trigger local queer production in Ottawa-Gatineau by initiating the Video Virgin Award in collaboration with the city's premiere media art centre SAW Video. We have also hired a Festival Coordinator based in Ottawa to further our commitment to the city.
Finally, our most important goal is to light your screens with the worldwide explosion of queer cinema. These very films are fostering political and social change in more corners of the planet than ever before. Sit back and enjoy the comedies, documentaries, dramas and shorts that reflect your own stories and sometimes take you to places you never imagined.
