In 1998, director Mark Christopher created a cinematic ode to the lavish excesses and drug-fuelled hedonism that took place behind the velvet rope of the world’s most glamorous nightclub. Producers demanded changes to the film following test-audience reactions and ultimately cut forty-five minutes, replacing it with twenty-five minutes of new scenes.

Seventeen years later, Christopher has painstakingly reconstructed the original story of curly-haired blond Jersey boy, Shane O’Shea (Ryan Phillippe), who becomes lost in the glittering world of sex, drugs and disco and only barely manages to get out alive. Christopher’s new version has a darker, more debauched and above all queerer tone that better reflects the celebration and the
sleaze prevalent within the walls of the infamous club.
