Films about lesbians having babies are all the rage, and you won't find a better movie about mommy dykes than this spry French comedy. Closeted teacher Lucie (Natalie Dontchecva) hears her biological clock ticking and convinces her reluctant partner Marion (Vanessa Lareé) to join her on their babymaking adventure. Their search for a prospective sperm donor ends when Marion's best friend, Hugo (Gregory Fitoussi), volunteers for the job. But getting their respective families to share their happiness is going to take a lot more work.
What's so appealing about this film, aside from the likeable-and very cute-leads, is that director Étienne Dhaene possesses such a light touch. He never paints the couple's problems as catastrophic, and he never sugar-coats their happiness. And who can resist spending 90 minutes with two adorable dykes, who wear perfectly tied scarves and live in to-die-for homes-in Paris.
